Soaking in the Presence of God

I. Connecting with the Holy Spirit

2 Corinthians 13:14
“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen”

Intimacy with God is essential to our lives for us to grow in the Lord. We can do a lot of things but this one area of our lives cannot be compromised.  Soaking in the Presence of God is a powerful way to connect with the Holy Spirit within us.  We are not trying to get the Holy Spirit to come down out of heaven.  He has already come. We need to learn how to draw from His Presence within us.  He is the living water that Jesus promised to us.  Take time everyday, as often as possible, to welcome the Holy Spirit interacting with Him with an open heart.

II. Receiving From God

Luke 10:39-42
And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus feet and heard His word. But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? “Therefore tell her to help me. And Jesus answered and said to her,  “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

Mary was receiving the words of Jesus. When we are with the Lord in the person of the Holy Spirit we want to set our hearts to “receive” in His Presence.  One of the things that God looks for in our hearts is a desperation for Him.  When we are desperate then we will do whatever it takes to connect with Him.  Our pursuit of Him is more passionate when we have a spiritual hunger.  When we have natural hunger we do what it takes to find food.  It is the same with spiritual hunger.  Those who hunger and thirst for righteousness shall be filled.  Set your heart to receive in His Presence.

III. Feasting in His Presence

Psalm 36:8
“They feast on the abundance of your house,
and you give them drink from the river of your delights.
For with you is the fountain of life;
in your light do we see light.”

There is no lack in God’s house, but just the opposite.  There is a bountiful supply for our souls.  When we come into His house we can feast on His abundance.  The KJV says that He “makes us drink from the river of His delights”!  Spending time with God is a blessed experience. Soaking in the Holy Spirit is an abundant feast that results in joy unspeakable, peace that passes all understanding and our hearts are filled with His love that never fails.  Realize today that God has only good things in store for you, His plans are good and He desires to bless you with everlasting life from the river of His delights.

Take time to soak in the Presence of God everyday and you will discover the rivers of living waters that flow from His Throne.
